PHYSICAL THERAPISTS

Bonnie O’Rourke-Barr, PT, MPH, CLT

Physical Therapist and Owner of Synergy Fitness and Wellness Center. Bonnie O’Rourke-Barr graduated from Marquette University of Milwaukee in 1988. She developed a love for international cultures and worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica, as a consultant with Project HOPE in Yerevan, Armenia, and as a research assistant in El Salvador.

Bonnie had the opportunity to work as a “traveler” in St. Thomas in 1994 at the Schneider Regional Medical Center. It was at that time that she developed a great love for St. Thomas and vowed to return after completing graduate studies in International Public Health at Tulane University. She completed her degree but loved the city of New Orleans and a wonderful musician named Michael Barr. She stayed in New Orleans working in a variety of settings, including pediatrics, acute care, outpatient orthopedics and a rehabilitation facility. A husband, babies and a similar love for the eclectic life of New Orleans kept her there until Hurricane Katrina forced her family to relocate. She has worked at the Schneider Regional Medical Center since 2006 and loves the variety of cultures and opportunities available in St. Thomas. Bonnie and her family chose to make St. Thomas their permanent residence and joined forces with the Synergy team to make healthy living a reality, not just a dream.

Bethany Miller, ATC PTA

Bethany spent the first 28 years of her life in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati in 2012 with an Athletic Training degree. She worked in sports medicine and orthopedics, as well as high school sports teams for 2 years before returning to school.

She then transitioned from AT to ATC and PTA at Kent State, graduating in 2015. Since then, Bethany has experience in orthopedic bracing and 2 years experience providing physical therapy in skilled nursing facilities and a long-term acute care rehabilitation facility. Her range of experience allows Bethany to adjust treatments to her individual patients’ needs. It also allows her to transition patients from physical therapy to working out again to maintain their health. Bethany recently moved to St. Thomas to pursue a different way of living, while still providing patient care to a variety of people. She is looking forward to all this island and Synergy have to offer.

Holly David, DPT

Dr. Holly David, DPT is a physical therapist from Lafayette, LA.  Holly obtained her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Lafayette, LA and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Louisiana State University in New Orleans.  Holly enjoys working with patients at all levels and has completed her NDT specialty certification in stroke rehab. Holly lives with her husband on a sailboat and enjoys sailing throughout the Caribbean.

Aaron Leonard, PTA, BS

Born and raised on the beautiful island of St. Thomas, Aaron received his high school diploma from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School. He earned an associate degree in the physical therapy assistant program at Herzing University and a bachelor’s degree in health science. Aaron returned to St. Thomas in November 2017 and has been working as a PTA in the out-patient setting and in home health. In his spare time, Aaron enjoys going to the beach, cooking and participating in outdoor activities.
